Last Review: The food was a complete let down. The only thing that tasted remotely good was the "dynamite" -- that came 20 min. later after the waiter forgot to put in the order and blatantly lied that the chefs forgot the order when I watched him clearly put the order in right after we asked him where our last order was. The place spent more time looking appealing than making the food appealing. It definitely did not put the time old quote "The food is the star." I was first impressed by the interesting decorations -- wood borders similar to a Japanese tea house with cloth "doors," a nicely decorated little zen garden-like place, and beautiful artwork all around. I was excited to see how the food played out, only to be completely let down. Starting with the service, the waiters weren't friendly -- as little conversation as possible and looking very unhappy to be there. It's not my problem that they work there is it? Already turned off by the waiter, I ordered a dinner combo and the "dynamite." The food came out very quickly so I was surprised and somewhat suspicious. At a glance, it was a nice presentation -- long white plates with salad, rice, and my entrees neatly placed. As I first chowed down on the tempura, I was definitely pleased. Not too oily and a good balance between the batter and the shrimp or vegetable inside. Then I got to my short ribs. This is where it went downhill. The meat part was cooked, but the part near the bone was blood red. I asked the waiter if this was how it was supposed to be, and he answered, "Well we cook it rare to medium rare." I simply looked at him and said "okay..." Then almost as if he felt attacked he quickly said "Oh well do you want it well done?" In a sarcastic tone. I simply said no and waited for the "dynamite." I waited... and waited... 20 min. it became until I finally asked the waiter when he appeared finally where my order was... He quickly went to his little computer thing to put in the order and blamed it on the chefs, thinking I didn't know what he just did. When it finally came, it was extremely delicious, everything well balanced in taste, but not enough to make up for the horrible experience. I left right after I finished and didn't tip my waiter. "Thanks for the experience. Now I know where to not bring my friends," I simply said as I walked out of the restaurant.
